Job summary

Jaybird Senior Living is seeking a Culinary Assistant to support dining services, kitchen, and related areas under the Culinary Coordinator. You will help prepare dining spaces, serve residents, and maintain cleanliness and safety in accordance with regulations.

The role requires strong communication, organization, and a calm, friendly demeanor. Experience in elderly care or hospitality is a plus, with opportunities for career growth in a fast-growing company.

Qualifications

• High school student (14+) working toward a diploma; preference for graduates or GED holders.
• Strong communication, organizational, and listening skills.
• Calm, friendly demeanor with patience and flexibility.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Basic problem-solving skills; willingness to accept supervision.
• Preferred experience in elderly care or hospitality settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up the dining room for meals; serve residents and transport food to other dining areas.
• Set and clear tables, wash dishes, and clean kitchen and dining spaces according to schedules.
• Maintain sanitation and hygiene practices; use PPE and follow hair covering and hand protection regulations.
• Report unsafe conditions and respond to alarms or emergencies.
• Participate in staff meetings and in-services; contribute to food service safety committees.
• Assist with scheduled activities and special events as requested.
• Complete incident reports and work orders; uphold resident and coworker confidentiality per HIPAA.
• Follow all Policies & Procedures and comply with state regulations applicable to assisted living.
