Job summary

Southwest Tennessee Community College is seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty member for Culinary Arts within the Business and Legal Studies Department. The position pays $640 per credit hour and requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Hospitality Management or Dietetics, or Associate's degree in Culinary Arts with a minimum of 5 years work experience in the culinary field.
• Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and delivers instruction on topics for the Culinary Arts courses.
• Compiles, administers, evaluates and grades students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently; and keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.
• Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
• Maintains office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student recruitment and retention; and assists students with course-related problems outside of the classroom.
• Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with FERPA regulations.
• Attends faculty meetings, college assemblies, and orientation activities; participates in professional activities and organizations.
• May perform other duties as assigned by Department Head/Dean.
• This position will primarily be responsible for instruction for dual-enrollment culinary arts courses offered at various high schools across Shelby County.
