Job summary

Southern Utah University is seeking an Educational Technology Support team member to assist the Center for Teaching Innovation with day-to-day operations and user support for Canvas and related tools.

You will support faculty, staff, and students, help map curricula, and contribute to creating accessible content while exploring new technologies such as HTML/CSS and Articulate. This on-site role emphasizes collaboration and service in an academic setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to switch between tasks and prioritize multiple projects.
• Comfort with Canvas, Microsoft Office, & Adobe Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide Canvas technical support via phone, email, and in-person for SUU faculty, staff, and students.
• Assist CTI team with projects using Online Proctoring Software, Online Plagiarism Detection Tool, Padlet, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Drive.
• Assist Instructional Design with mapping curriculum as needed.
• Learn and evaluate new applications and tools for teaching effectiveness.
• Create accessible, interactive content based on faculty guidance.
• Remediate documents to be accessible for learners.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

This position will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Educational Technology Support team within the Center for Teaching Innovation.

Responsibilities:

• Providing Canvas technical support over phone, email, and in-person with SUU faculty, staff, and students.
• Assisting the Center for Teaching Innovation team with varying projects and using a wide range of technology, for example Online Proctoring Software, Online Plagiarism Detection Tool, Padlet, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Drive.
• Assisting Instructional Design team and faculty with mapping curriculum as needed.
• Assisting with learning, implementing, and evaluating new applications and tools.
• Creating high-quality, interactive, and accessible content based on information provided by faculty and the Instructional Design team.
• Remediating documents to be accessible for learners.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to easily switch between tasks and prioritize multiple projects.
• Comfort and familiarity with Canvas, Microsoft Office Suite, & Adobe Suite desired.
• Customer service experience desired, particularly on the phone and through email.
• Desire to learn new technology skills such as HTML/CSS and Articulate.
• Professionalism, including strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Self-motivation to work independently or as a member of a team, including documenting and communicating with the department through project management software.
• Willingness and interest in learning to create web content that conforms to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2).
