Job summary

Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh seeks a radiologic technologist to perform prescribed imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision, with independent judgment and initiative.

You will position patients, review orders, educate patients, administer contrast when appropriate, monitor status, ensure safety and quality control, and report results, contributing to efficient, high-quality imaging services.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate’s degree or equivalent in radiologic technology.
• ARRT RT or NMTCB CNMT certification required at hire.
• At least basic CPR certification required.
• CT certification or NMTCB CT certification within 18 months of hire.
• Background clearances (Act 34, Act 33, Act 73) required.
• Prior CT technologist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Position patient and perform imaging procedures independently.
• Analyze results and identify image quality issues.
• Reposition patient and repeat procedure as needed to ensure quality.
• Enter, transmit, and report scan results.
• Review patient history and physician orders.
• Educate patient regarding procedures and equipment.
• Prepare and administer contrast media when ordered.
• Monitor patient condition and respond to changes.
• Prepare equipment and supplies; ensure safety standards.
• Troubleshoot and report equipment malfunctions.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job Performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) independently.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. (40%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
• Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
• Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies.
• Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
• Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions, as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum Associate’s degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire
• Preferred Prior experience working as a CT Technologist
• Additional Employment Requirements: One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained: Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR NMTCB registered (CT) certification
• For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022: CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.
• CPR - American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
