Job summary

Highmark Health is seeking qualified radiologic technologists to perform imaging procedures with independence and clinical judgment. The role requires ability to analyze images, communicate with patients, and coordinate with physicians.

Candidates must have ARRT registration in radiography or NMTCB CNMT, CT certification preferred, and comply with required background checks and HIPAA policies. Sign-on bonus up to $30,000 is available with a 3-year commitment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate’s degree (or equivalent) required.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography or NMTCB registered (CNMT) required at time of hire.
• CT certification or NMTCB CT certification preferred; maintain certifications.
• CPR certification per organization policy and state mandates.
• Background clearances and FBI fingerprinting as required by employment.
• Compliance with HIPAA and company privacy policies.

Responsibilities

• Position patients and perform imaging procedures independently.
• Analyze results and identify image quality issues.
• Resolve image quality issues, including repositioning and repeating procedures.
• Enter, transmit and report scan results; document patient history and orders.
• Educate patients about procedures, equipment and exams.
• Prepare and administer contrast media/medications within scope; monitor patient condition.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job Performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) independently.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results. (40%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Associate’s degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire Preferred Prior experience working as a CT Technologist Additional Employment Requirements: One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained: Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR NMTCB registered (CT) certification For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022: CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.
