Job summary

Highmark Health's Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform imaging procedures independently, ensuring high-quality results and patient safety. The role includes patient education, contrast administration when ordered, and strict adherence to safety and quality control standards.

The ideal candidate holds an associate degree and ARRT/NMTCB certification, with CT experience preferred and CPR compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) at time of hire.
• CT certification within 18 months if not currently certified; prior CT experience preferred.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34/33/73 background clearances and FBI fingerprinting as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures independently.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with image quality.
• Resolves image quality issues, including repositioning and repeats.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
• Reviews history and educates patient about procedures and exam.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications; monitors patient condition.
• Prepares equipment, selects exposure factors, implements safety standards and QC.

GENERAL OVERVIEW

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) independently.
• Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
• Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
• Enters, transmits and reports scan results. (40%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum Associate degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire
• Preferred Prior experience working as a CT Technologist

Additional Employment Requirements

• One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained: Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR NMTCB registered (CT) certification
• For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022: CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.

• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
