Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a CT Scan Technologist to provide direct patient care and perform CT examinations under radiologist direction in a busy department.

Under supervision of the Senior CT Scan Technologist, you will gather data, ensure accuracy of records, and support interventional exams while maintaining safety and protocol compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
• Registered by the ARRT or NMTCB in diagnostic CT.
• Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT scan examinations appropriate to patient age in inpatient/outpatient settings.
• Gather clinical data and maintain accurate patient records.
• Complete records, paperwork, and billings promptly.
• Position and transfer patients; assist physicians with interventional exams.
• Send exams to PACS; perform QC on images.

Hiring Range

$35.94 - $58.96 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Under the supervision of the Senior CT Scan Technologist and department leadership, provides direct patient care services and other related functions in support of the department. Performs independently within scope of department policies. Clinically works at the direction of a qualified Radiologist.

I. Major Responsibilities

• 1. Properly performs all CT scan examinations appropriate to the age of the patient in inpatient and/or outpatient settings, consistent with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
• 2. Gathers pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
• 3. Accurately completes all records, paperwork and billings and submits promptly.
• 4. Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
• 5. Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC on images and appropriately sends exams to PACS for the physicians to review.
• 6. Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
• 7. Assists with other job-related duties including urgent exam requests and scheduling.
• 8. Under the direction of a Radiologist or Emergency Room Physician, performs CT exams using contrast media according to department policy and procedures.
• 9. Will establish IV access for contrast injection according to department policy and procedure.
• 10. Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support.
• 11.The float requirements only apply to UMass Memorial Nashoba Valley's newly hired staff

II. Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

Required:

• 1. Graduate of an accredited radiological program.
• 2. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or NMTCB certified in diagnostic CT.
• 3. Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Experience/Skills

Required:

• 1. Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to product optimum results.
• 2. Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of a education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
