Job summary

Oklahoma Children's Hospital OU Health is seeking a CT Technologist I to perform routine CT examinations in a patient-centered setting. This role supports the Adult CT Scan department, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and timely imaging under supervision.

The ideal candidate will have ARRT eligibility or credentials, BLS at hire, and within 12 months of hire to obtain ARRT. The position offers a stable daytime schedule and dedicated teamwork in a leading academic health system.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program per ARRT.
• No prior CT experience required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire.
• ARRT(RT) certification required within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and HIPAA guidelines.
• Ability to work in a diverse team and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality CT exams under routine or emergent conditions.
• Prepare patients and correlate history with exams.
• Safely administer contrast per protocol.
• Transfer images to EMR/PACS and document studies.
• Perform operator-level quality control and basic equipment maintenance.
• Participate in continuing education and research initiatives.
• Support inventory tasks to ensure supplies are available.

Job Description

General Description: The CT Technologist I performs routine computed tomography (CT) examinations in accordance with established protocols, policies, and safety standards, with guidance as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• Utilizing core knowledge, skills, abilities, and available resources, provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care and support services under routine or emergent conditions.
• Care is delivered under appropriate supervision across a variety of settings.
• Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician-ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.
• Safely administers contrast per protocol
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.
• Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.
• Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
• Carries out operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Accurately document in EMR/PACS
• Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.
• Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.

General Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
• Experience: No prior CT experience required.
• License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire. ARRT(RT) certification required within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic radiologic technology concepts, and CT-related terminology.
• Applies core CT theory, practices, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing, analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance.
• Communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.
• Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non-clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
• Knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
• Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.
• Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
• Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
