Includes preparation, history review, contrast administration per protocol, and basic image handling in EMR/PACS. ARRT certification within 12 months is required; BLS is needed on hire. This position supports ongoing education and quality care initiatives.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited imaging/radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
• Experience: No prior CT experience required.
• Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
• ARRT(RT) certification required within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe, high-quality CT examinations and patient-centered care under supervision.
• Prepares patients, reviews clinical history, and supports appropriate imaging per protocol.
• Safely administers contrast per protocol and ensures image transfer to EMR/PACS.
• Maintains basic quality control, cleaning, and equipment maintenance per instructions.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and care team to support outcomes.

The CT Technologist I performs routine computed tomography (CT) examinations in accordance with established protocols, policies, and safety standards, with guidance as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• Utilizing core knowledge, skills, abilities, and available resources, provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care and support services under routine or emergent conditions.
• Care is delivered under appropriate supervision across a variety of settings.
• Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician‑ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.
• Safely administers contrast per protocol.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.
• Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.
• Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
• Carries out operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Accurately document in EMR/PACS.
• Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.
• Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.

General Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic radiologic technology concepts, and CT-related terminology.
• Applies core CT theory, practices, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing, analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance.
• Communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.
• Ability to prioritize and complete assigned clinical and non‑clinical work tasks with guidance and direction, progressively developing independence in managing routine responsibilities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and remain composed in stressful situations with guidance and support, progressively developing effective coping and prioritization skills.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply HIPAA guidelines and standards.
• Ability to work as part of a diverse team and communicate effectively with others.
• Displays consistency and dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
• Ability to be sensitive to patients’ physical and psychological needs.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and work accurately with names, numbers, and codes.
