Job summary

OU Health's Oklahoma Children’s Hospital CT department seeks a CT Technologist I for PT night shifts to perform routine CT examinations in a fast-paced setting. You will prep patients, administer contrast, and ensure accurate data transfer to EMR/PACS while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires graduation from an accredited imaging program; ARRT(RT) certification within 12 months of hire and BLS at hire. No prior CT experience is required, with supervision as needed.

Job Description

General Description: The CT Technologist I performs routine computed tomography (CT) examinations in accordance with established protocols, policies, and safety standards, with guidance as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• Utilizing core knowledge, skills, abilities, and available resources, provides safe, high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care and support services under routine or emergent conditions.
• Care is delivered under appropriate supervision across a variety of settings.
• Prepares patients for procedures and correlates clinical history with physician-ordered exams to support appropriate imaging.
• Safely administers contrast per protocol.
• Demonstrates the ability to recognize basic imaging artifacts and implement corrective measures independently or under guidance.
• Effectively communicates and collaborates with patients, families, and the care team to support desired clinical outcomes and service standards.
• Accurately transfers images and associated data to designated systems, completes basic technical documentation, and prepares studies for physician reporting.
• Carries out operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, high-level disinfection, and basic equipment maintenance per manufacturer instructions and regulatory requirements.
• Accurately documents in EMR/PACS.
• Actively participates in continuing education, professional development, and research initiatives to maintain competencies and advance quality of care and treatment practices.
• Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited imaging, radiology or nuclear medicine program as defined by ARRT or Completion of JRCERT accredited Military Educational Program is accepted in lieu of other educational requirements.
• Experience: No prior CT experience required.
• License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
• License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: ARRT(RT) certification required within 12 months of hire.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Foundational knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, basic radiologic technology concepts, and CT-related terminology.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Applies core CT theory, practices, and techniques to perform examinations and complete basic post-processing, analysis, and documentation with general supervision or assistance.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Communication skills to exchange basic information with patients, families, and team members.
