Primary Function
- This position is responsible for performing Computerized Tomography (CT) imaging studies while providing a quality healthcare service that includes total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment. Excellent communication skills are essential due to continuous interaction with the public and medical personnel.
- Participates in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement by identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations, and implementing appropriate actions aligned with Nemours' goals.
- The CT Technologist is essential personnel for the hospital and should report for work during inclement weather or in response to a code delta event requiring additional resources.
Essential Functions
- Operates Siemens SOMATOM Dual Energy Flash, Siemens Edge, GE VCT Lightspeed, and post-processing workstations with a working knowledge of each.
- Follows routine computerized tomography imaging protocols and performs patient examinations according to the designated radiologist's protocols.
- Prepares the imaging room and provides instructions to patients and families, explaining procedures and answering questions.
- Prepares, administers, and documents contrast media under the supervision of a radiologist or physician, monitoring for allergic reactions.
- Screens patients for contraindications that could pose health hazards or safety risks.
- Assists radiologists by evaluating patients, obtaining screening documentation, starting IVs, and injecting contrast material.
- Maintains safety and operational standards, reports unsafe conditions, and operates hospital computer systems for data management and study completion.
- Adjusts radiation exposure factors to minimize patient dose according to protocols and ensures proper equipment function and maintenance.
- Provides patient care tailored to their age, development, and social maturity.
- Works well with others, demonstrates good communication, and assists in training new staff, students, and physicians.
- Maintains regular attendance; is considered essential during severe weather or disasters.
- Works a flexible schedule, has reliable transportation, and is available on an on-call basis.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma
DE State License within 90 days of employment
ARRT/Radiographer certification within 1 year of employment
ARRT/CT board certification within 18 months of employment
CPR certification, obtained within the first 90 days of hire
