Join UPMC as a Casual Peripheral Vascular Laboratory Technologist (PVL Technologist)!

Are you passionate about vascular diagnostics and looking for a flexible role that fits your schedule? UPMC is seeking a dedicated PVL Technologist to join our team on a casual basis. This role offers the opportunity to provide coverage for staff PTO or call-offs, with shifts typically scheduled Monday through Friday. Enjoy the benefit of no holiday shifts, though weekend call time may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertise in Vascular Diagnostics: Conduct arterial and venous duplex imaging with color flow Doppler, noninvasive arterial testing, visceral abdominal duplex imaging, extracranial duplex imaging, and other assigned noninvasive vascular tests.
  • Patient Care: Provide general information to patients and their significant others during vascular testing, ensuring a supportive and informative experience.
  • Data Management: Enter and maintain data integrity in computer systems.
  • Team Collaboration: Participate in the training of new technologists and students, and engage in continuing education within the department.
  • Technical Proficiency: Troubleshoot equipment and computer terminal issues, making minor repairs as needed.
  • Supportive Environment: Assist other staff members and hospital personnel, prioritizing patient care and interdepartmental service.
  • Safety and Accuracy: Maintain patient safety, obtain detailed patient histories, and calculate tracing, spectral analyses, and analog waveforms for vascular tests.
  • Comprehensive Skill Development: Perform all studies offered in the Peripheral Vascular lab within twelve months of your start date.

Qualifications:

  • RVT Certification: Must be obtained within one year of hiring for new graduates.
  • Knowledge of Doppler and Ultrasound Physics: Essential for performing vascular exams.
