Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform prescribed imaging procedures at a technically proficient level with minimal supervision. You will independently position patients, conduct studies, and assess image quality, taking corrective actions as needed.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, educating patients about procedures, administering contrast when required, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety through quality control. Prior CT experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent; 6 months to 1 year related experience may be acceptable.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography or NMTCB registered (CNMT) required at hire.

• Review history and orders; educate patient about procedures to ensure understanding.
• Prepare and administer contrast media when ordered; monitor patient condition.

General Overview

This role performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level that does not require constant supervision. The technologist competently performs a variety of technical procedures that demand independent judgment and initiative.

Essential Responsibilities

• Position patient and perform imaging procedures independently, analyze results, identify image quality issues, take appropriate action to resolve those issues (including repositioning patient and repeating procedures) and enter, transmit, and report scan results. (40%)
• Review patient history and physician orders. Educate patient regarding procedures, equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitor patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepare equipment and supplies. Select appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at the time of hire.

Preferred

• Prior experience working as a CT Technologist.
