Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform prescribed imaging procedures with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities include positioning, image analysis, patient education, contrast administration, equipment preparation, QC, and safety procedures in compliance with HIPAA and privacy policies.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent.
• ARRT (RT) in radiography or NMTCB (CNMT) required at time of hire.
• Complete required certifications within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedures independently; evaluates image quality and resolves issues.
• Reviews patient history and physician orders; educates patient about procedures for cooperation.
• Administers contrast media or meds when ordered; monitors patient and reports changes.
• Prepares equipment, selects exposure factors and imaging parameters; performs QC and troubleshoots issues.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

General Overview: This job Performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative.

Essential Responsibilities

• Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s) independently. Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. (40%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions, as necessary. (20%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Minimum

• Associate’s degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire

Preferred

• Prior experience working as a CT Technologist

Additional Employment Requirements

• One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained
  • Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR
  • NMTCB registered (CT) certification
  • For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022 CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.
• CPR – American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
