Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision, exercising independent judgment and initiative. Responsibilities include positioning patients, reviewing orders, educating patients, and, when ordered, administering contrast media while monitoring patient condition.

The role also involves equipment preparation, exposure factor selection, safety protocols and ongoing quality

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography or NMTCB registered (CNMT) required at time of hire.
• CT Technologist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Position patients and perform imaging procedures independently with appropriate judgment.
• Review patient history and orders; educate patients about procedures and equipment.
• Prepare and administer contrast media when ordered and monitor patient condition.
• Prepare equipment, select exposure factors, ensure safety standards and perform quality control.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results. (40%)
• Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation. (20%)
• When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate. (20%)
• Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary. (20%)

Qualifications

Minimum

• Associate degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• ARRT Registered (RT) in radiography (R) or NMTCB registered (CNMT) is required at time of hire

Preferred

• Prior experience working as a CT Technologist

Additional Employment Requirements

• One of the following sets of certifications is required within 18 months of hire or transfer, if already certified, active certification must be maintained
• Computed Tomography (CT) certified OR
• NMTCB registered (CT) certification
• For employees already in a CT role prior to July 1, 2022 CT certification is not required if not already held; however, existing CT certifications must be maintained.
• CPR – American Heart Association
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
