Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist to perform CT scans of head, neck, spine, chest and body with/without contrast. Role requires ARRT certification (R), advanced CT cert, and compliance with credentialing standards.

Qualifications

• Must be a United States citizen or eligible per VA policy.
• English Language Proficiency
• Certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT - Radiography (R)
• Advanced ARRT certification required for CT assignments
• Education: 24 months post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program (certificate or assoc. degree)
• Credentialing standards per Public Law 97-35 and 42 CFR Part 75
• Must be certified as radiographers and meet DOE-recognized accrediting standards
• One year of experience at next lower grade level or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Schedule exams to optimize scanner times and maintain flexibility for emergencies.
• Confers with radiologists to determine requirement of non-standard exams.
• Determine technical factors, positioning, and number/thickness of scans to meet CT requirements.
• Perform CT exams including CTA, coronary, abdominal, and neuro studies.
• Prepare contrast materials used in CT and ensure safe handling.
• Maintain radiation safety with lead protection and proper protocol adherence.
• Maintain patient records and exams in the CT information system.
