Job summary

Robinhood is seeking an engineer for Cryptographic Services & Infrastructure to secure and manage cryptographic keys and enable safe use of core capabilities across engineering teams. You will help build and operationalize an in-house card-processing service, gaining ownership across software, infrastructure, security, and operations.

Prior cryptography or security experience is valued, but we are eager to train strong engineers who are passionate about security to learn on the job.

Qualifications

• Experience building, operating, or supporting production services, distributed systems, or infrastructure.
• Proficiency writing production code in at least one modern programming language (such as Python, Go, Java, C#, or C++) with a strong ability to reason about complex systems.
• Comfort working across multiple technical domains, including software development, infrastructure, and operational reliability.
• Clear and concise communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to explain technical decisions and proactively collaborate when facing challenges.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn security engineering principles and participate in a light on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain production services and infrastructure supporting key management, encryption, and decryption functions.
• Help architect, launch, and scale Robinhood’s new in-house card-processing environment to protect sensitive card, financial, and tax-related data.
• Write clean, maintainable production code and build operational tooling across software, infrastructure, and security controls.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to support migrations, drive adoption of shared cryptographic capabilities, and ensure safe system design.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to maintain high availability, security, and operational reliability as processing volume grows.
