Job summary

Airgas, Inc. in San Jose, CA is seeking a Technician - Field Service I to install and repair cryogenic piping and related equipment at customer sites. You will perform preventive maintenance, maintain spares, and ensure safe, efficient product delivery.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, 1–3 years of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel and join the on-call rotation. training and safety compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Cryogenics, high pressure piping, brazing or related diagnostics/repair experience.
• Familiarity with programmable controls, pumping systems, and process instrumentation.
• HVAC or plumbing experience with welding/brazing is a plus.
• Ability to read manuals and P&ID drawings; understand CGA/NFPA/NEC standards.
• Valid driver’s license and clean DMV; may require DOT physical.
• Strong math skills and a customer-service orientation.
• Ability to lift 25–50 lbs (up to 80 lbs occasionally).

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing and repairing cryogenic piping systems and tanks at Airgas facilities and customer sites.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on cryogenic vessels and equipment.
• Install and troubleshoot Telemetry; obtain brazing certification.
• Submit service orders, estimates and invoices promptly.
• Maintain inventory of parts and ensure safety compliance.
• Provide excellent customer service and participate in on-call duties.
• Attend safety meetings and follow NFPA standards.
