Providence College seeks a temporary, part-time Project Manager & Curatorial Assistant to support CROSSINGS: Wilderness Journeys through Art, Care, and Community, a grant-funded initiative for the Creative Arts Collective. This role averages about 22 hours per week from Oct 18, 2026, to Jun 30, 2027, under the Director & Chief Curator and PCG staff.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in art history, museum studies, curatorial studies, arts administration, visual arts, humanities, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Professional experience coordinating exhibitions, programs, projects, or other complex collaborative initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules and deadlines.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a project team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide curatorial and community engagement research support under the Director & Chief Curator.
  • Research and compile artist, artwork, lender, bibliographic, and contextual information for exhibition development.
  • Draft materials for exhibition texts, interpretive content, and digital resources.
  • Maintain exhibition checklists and organize artwork information, captions, and permissions.
  • Coordinate information and deadlines with exhibition design, lighting, and fabrication teams.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of project meetings and public programming.

Overview

PC Galleries (PCG) seeks a temporary, part-time Project Manager & Curatorial Assistant to support CROSSINGS: WildernessJourneys through Art, Care, and Community, a grant-fundedinitiative supported by the Creative Arts Collective for ChristianLife & Faith. This position is for the duration of the project period, from October 18, 2026, through June 30, 2027. This position will average approximately 22 hours per week.

Working under the direction of the Director & Chief Curator and in collaboration with PCG staff, the Project Manager &Curatorial Assistant position serves as a central point ofcoordination among the project's artists, lenders, campuscollaborators, community partners, and grant-funded consultants. The position manages assigned exhibition and program logisticsthroughout the initiative, including project schedules, meetings,documentation, communications, curatorial research, and thedevelopment of interpretive and project materials, as well as otherduties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

Curatorial and Exhibition Production Support:

  • Provide curatorial and community engagement research supportunder the direction of the Director & Chief Curator, including:
    • Research and compile artist, artwork, lender, bibliographic,and contextual information needed for exhibition development andinterpretation.
    • Contribute research and draft materials for exhibition texts,interpretive materials, digital resources, and other public-facingcontent.
    • Maintain exhibition checklists and organize artworkinformation, images, captions, credits, permissions, and relatedexhibition documentation.
  • Support correspondence and coordination with participatingartists, galleries, lenders, and other project contributors.
  • Coordinate information and deadlines with exhibition design,lighting, fabrication, and other project specialists.
  • Support exhibition planning and implementation in collaborationwith PCG staff as assigned.

Programs, Publications, and Engagement:

  • Assist with planning and implementation of project meetings,information sessions, workshops, and related engagementactivities.
  • Provide public programming coordination for the CROSSINGSopening, symposium, and related public programs, includingschedules, participant information, travel arrangements, programmaterials, and other logistical needs.
  • Coordinate production deadlines for the Crossings ReflectionGuide.
  • Support communication and scheduling with campus and communitypartners in coordination with the Director & Chief Curator andCommunity Liaison/Partner Facilitator.

Communications, Documentation, and Evaluation Support:

  • Gather and organize project information, images, credits,schedules, and other materials for marketing and communicationsuse.
  • Coordinate scheduling and project access for photography,videography, interviews, and other documentation activities.
  • Support the Evaluation Consultant by coordinating access toproject information, schedules, participants, attendanceinformation, and evaluation materials.
  • Assist with organizing project documentation and media forfinal reporting, archival purposes, and submission to ProvidenceCollege's Digital Commons.
Education and Experience
  • Master's degree in art history, museum studies, curatorialstudies, arts administration, visual arts, humanities, or a relatedfield, or an equivalent combination of education and relevantprofessional experience.
  • Professional experience in a museum, gallery, artsorganization, higher education environment, or related culturalsetting.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating exhibitions, programs,projects, or other complex collaborative initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project-management skills, includingthe ability to manage multiple schedules, deadlines, andworkstreams.
  • Demonstrated research, writing, editing, andinformation-management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communicationskills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment,establish priorities, and collaborate effectively within a projectteam.
  • Proficiency with standard workplace productivity, file-sharing,and collaborative project-management tools (MS-Office, Teams).
Supplemental Information

Individual must be able to work occasional weekends and eveninghours within the approved hours available.
