Job summary

The City of Worcester is seeking a Cross Connection Coordinator for the Water Operations Division. This role protects the public potable water supply by identifying, inspecting, and mitigating cross-connections and ensuring compliance with backflow prevention regulations.

Under the Assistant Director of Water Operations, you will collaborate with internal departments, contractors, and customers to enforce program requirements and promote public health.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; certifications related to water systems operations or plumbing preferred.
• 3 years experience in water distribution, plumbing inspection, or backflow prevention; municipal setting preferred.
• Mass DEP Backflow Tester license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Mass DEP Cross-Connection Surveyor license or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Identify, inspect, and mitigate cross-connections to protect the public potable water supply.
• Enforce program requirements and promote public health.
• Coordinate with internal departments, private contractors, and customers to ensure compliance.
