Innova Solutions, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Network Engineer for a 12-month contract to design, deploy, and maintain enterprise networking infrastructure across data centers and offices.

You will install, configure, monitor, and upgrade network gear such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure; manage incidents and changes; and provide on-call support, working with vendors and ITSM workflows.

Network Engineer

Position type: Full-time Contract
Duration: 12 months
Location: San Diego, CA

As a Network Engineer, you will:

• Deliver, monitor, maintain, and configure network equipment, services, and solutions supporting enterprise networking environments.
• Perform installation, configuration, preventive maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning of network and telecommunications infrastructure.
• Provide data center and data hall floor support, including network hardware installation, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
• Analyze network performance and health using monitoring tools such as SolarWinds NPM, NCM, IPAM, NetFlow, Ping Plotter, MIB, and OID monitoring solutions.
• Respond to network outages and service disruptions, coordinating with vendors and carriers to restore services within SLA requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex LAN/WAN connectivity issues, providing support during standard business hours and after-hours on call rotations.
• Manage incidents, problems, configuration changes, and network-related service requests utilizing ITSM best practices.
• Support infrastructure projects involving network design, equipment refreshes, hardware deployments, lease replacements, and technology upgrades.
• Configure, deploy, and support switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, and load‑balancing solutions.
• Assist Network Engineering teams with network architecture implementation, validation, and operational support.
• Perform operating system upgrades, firmware updates, and scheduled maintenance activities to ensure optimal network performance and security.
• Conduct root cause analysis, document findings, and maintain troubleshooting documentation for future reference.
• Utilize ServiceNow and related service management tools to manage, track, and resolve support tickets.
• Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and field service resources to address network incidents and infrastructure requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, procedures, and operational activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process enhancements, automation, and best practices for service delivery.

The ideal candidate will have:

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience supporting enterprise networking environments, managed services, or technical support operations
• Experienced with Ruckus based LAN and WLAN. - Ruckus ICX-7150-48PF access switches and - Ruckus ICX-7650-48F core switches
• Experience with Sophs WAN and Firewalls
• Experience with Cisco ACI, Cisco ISE, Palo Alto firewalls, wireless 802.11 environments, Security (IPS/IDS, NAC), and F5 load balancers
• Work history of supporting data center floor operations
• Operational understanding of SD‑WAN technology and solutions
• Experience with supporting Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)
• 5+ years of technical support engineering experience in a call center environment.
• Technology Services or Managed Service Provider industry experience.
• Excellent Layer 2 & 3 networking skills including strong knowledge and proficiency in industry‑standard networking technologies and infrastructures including cabling, LAN, WAN, and various telecommunication access methods, DNS based Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) theory as well as legacy networking technologies and system interdependencies.
• Production environment experience consisting of directly managing routers, switches, global and local load balancing, SSL acceleration, HTTP compression/caching, and DNS in a high‑availability infrastructure.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, SharePoint, ERP, service delivery management tools such as ServiceNow and related cloud‑based technology systems.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Information Technology or related
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Microsoft System Engineer (MCSE), or related certifications.
• Cloud & Virtualization technologies

Pay Range

$50 - $55 per hour

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
