Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved school of Respiratory Therapy required.
• Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy required (BA/BS preferred).
• RRT credentialed by NBRC and licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner/RT in the working state. BLS for healthcare providers required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in various oxygen delivery modes and equipment; conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve oxygenation.
• Administers therapeutic procedures; performs diagnostic procedures per policy.
• Initiates, monitors and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators; aware of critical care duties and effects of therapy.
• Evaluates current therapies and makes recommendations on plans of care and patient education needs.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with the healthcare team.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets values for treatment decisions.
• Works independently across patient care areas; proficient in EMR interface with Respiratory Care Dept.
• Follows safety guidelines; meets regulatory requirements; completes annual proficiency evaluation of equipment and procedures.
