Job summary

Boston Medical Center (BMC) is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the 5 West Teaching and Innovation unit. You will work under an RN to provide direct clinical and support services to patients and families in a teaching-focused critical care setting.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care, teamwork, and adherence to hospital policies. Night shifts (40 hours) are included, with opportunities for growth and ongoing training within a Magnet® recognized health system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS certification with CPR (current or within 30 days).
• Ability to pass clinical competency testing.
• Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
• Basic math and computer proficiency.
• One year of previous experience as a Patient Care Technician in an acute hospital setting OR current nursing program with two rotations OR PCT training OR CMA training OR EMT experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated patient care interventions for Critical Care patients and families.
• Clinical tasks include vital signs, bathing, feeding, wound care, hygiene, room cleaning, and emotional support.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment with proper equipment in the Critical Care unit.
• Support efficient operation and help achieve quality patient/family outcomes.
