Job summary

The University of Mississippi Medical Center's AirCare program seeks a Critical Care Paramedic to deliver optimum critical and emergency care to patients transported by aircraft or other vehicles to UMMC or designated facilities.

Qualified applicants will hold a high school diploma/GED, completion of CAHEA/CAHEP EMT-paramedic program, and at least three years of pre-hospital experience, plus required licenses and certifications to support inter-facility transport.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and EMT-paramedic program.
• Minimum 3 years of related pre-hospital experience.
• Must have valid driver's license and national/state paramedic certifications.

Responsibilities

• Provide physical and psychological comfort to patients during transport.
• Monitor patient condition and adverse reactions to drugs.
• Coordinate with pre-hospital and hospital personnel.
• Ensure proper functioning of transport equipment and report failures.
• Sterilize and maintain transport equipment per standards.
• Promote UMMC image through community outreach.
• Precept and orient colleagues and healthcare students.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and document care.
• Evaluate and document care in disaster/transport/out-of-hospital settings.
