Job summary

The Salvation Army Anew Center in Jamestown, NY seeks a Crisis & Services Advocate to support shelter operations and program delivery for domestic violence and rape crisis services. You will assist the Shelter Manager and Program Director, coordinate intake, provide crisis intervention, and maintain client confidentiality in a 24-hour service environment.

Responsibilities include enforcing safety protocols, conducting outreach, documenting reports, answering hotline calls, transporting clients

Qualifications

• Must satisfactorily complete the sexual assault training to be a certified rape crisis counselor.
• Must have a valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
• Must have computer/typing skills to complete statistics, maintain case files, and correspond via email.
• Must have the ability to climb stairs and carry supplies to and from upper levels of the building.

Responsibilities

• Read and follow The Salvation Army Employee Handbook and program policy/procedure manuals.
• Approve initial client admission into shelter according to policy and complete intake information.
• Provide care for shelter residents to meet safety and basic needs.
• Ensure shelter rules are followed and maintain cleanliness of shelter and resident rooms.
• Assist in food preparation and housekeeping duties as necessary.
• Answer the 24-hour Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis hotline and assess needs for crisis intervention.
• Complete service reports, track statistics, and other required paperwork.
• Provide crisis advocacy and accompaniment services as directed after training and attend trainings (min. 10 hours annually).
• Transport clients to shelter and appointments as directed; maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
