Job summary

Pillars Community Health, LLC seeks a Community Engagement Specialist to join the Mobile Crisis Response team. The role leverages lived experience to build rapport, de-escalate crises, and develop crisis safety plans while coordinating immediate and post-crisis follow-up care.

The position emphasizes confidential documentation, privacy compliance, and engaging individuals in recovery to support broader system of care improvements in Illinois.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; must be current or former consumer of behavioral health services.
• At least 1 year of experience in behavioral health, social services, or related field; crisis intervention experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish; CRSS credential encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

• Works with Mobile Crisis Response team to support crisis response on-site or virtually; provides on-site assessment within 60 minutes.
• Triages and dispatches crisis line calls on rotating schedule.
• Assists in de-escalation in coordination with MCR Clinician; builds rapport using lived experience.
• Maintains client confidentiality and adheres to privacy laws; completes documentation in Electronic Client Record.
• May carry a small post-crisis caseload focusing on skill-building and linkages to resources.
