Job summary

The City of Durham is seeking an Operations Logistics Specialist to ensure Crisis Response Teams have supplies, equipment, and resources. The role focuses on inventory management, stocking, and coordinating supply orders to keep teams ready for action.

Temporary position with potential for full-time hire in July 2027; start date October 5, 2026. Salary range reflects education and work experience contributions within Durham’s safety operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 1 year of inventory and procurement experience.
• Valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver's license or willingness to obtain NC license within 60 days of hire.
• Ability to drive a vehicle safely under various weather conditions.
• Must travel to and from worksite and other locations within Durham.
• Must be able to walk/stand up to 90% of shift.
• Must be able to lift over 100 lbs. occasionally; 50-100 lbs frequently; up to 20-50 lbs constantly.
• Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to anticipate needs and priorities.
• Experience with inventory and asset management information systems; working in operations/logistics in a public safety environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily stocking and preparation of Crisis Response Team (CRT) vehicles prior to their shift.
• Receiving and stocking shipments of crisis care supplies.
• Assisting with coordination of monthly supply orders.
• Regular storeroom inventory counts.
• Interaction with inventory tracking software to ensure accurate data collection.
• Assembly and preparation of supply kits for distribution in the community by responder teams.
• Clothing preparation and organization for distribution by teams.
• Daily stocking of crisis responder supply areas.
• Assisting with fleet management tasks for maintenance and cleaning.
• Serves as redundancy support for other operational needs.
