Southern Highlands Community Mental Health Center seeks a compassionate Peer Recovery Support Specialist – Crisis to join our crisis services team. You will use your lived experience to support individuals in immediate distress, help them develop coping strategies, and connect them with resources.

The role requires strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work nontraditional hours; valid driver's license and background checks are required.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Personal lived experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery.
• State or nationally recognized peer certification required at hire or within six months.
• Certification must be recognized by the West Virginia Certification Board for Addiction & Prevention Professionals.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an NPI.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to work traditional and nontraditional hours.
• Background checks, WV CARES clearance, and drug screening.

Aufgaben

• Provide peer-based emotional support to individuals experiencing behavioral health crises.
• Assist individuals in developing coping strategies, recovery tools, and short-term safety goals.
• Encourage engagement in crisis services, follow-up appointments, and ongoing treatment.
• Collaborate with crisis team members while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Support individuals transitioning between levels of care.
• Connect individuals with community resources and recovery-oriented services.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Follow agency policies, confidentiality requirements, and professional ethical standards.
