Job summary

Next Door Solutions To Domestic Violence in San Jose, CA is seeking an on-call bilingual Spanish hotline advocate to support crisis customers and refer them to services. The role covers shifts as needed and provides information on agency programs and safety planning.

You will conduct intake for shelter applicants, offer crisis counseling, and collaborate with the team to connect callers to resources while maintaining trauma-informed approaches in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BA degree or equivalent experience in a nonprofit agency.
• Direct service experience in client-centered counseling and crisis intervention.
• Experience working with victims/survivors of domestic violence from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a crisis setting.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed services.
• Ability to complete 40-hour domestic violence training program.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of contact for clients and the community; provide crisis counseling and referrals.
• Conduct intake interviews and assessments for shelter services.
• Provide trauma-informed safety planning and crisis counseling to callers and residents.
• Compile statistical data as required.
• Perform other duties to support the agency's mission.
