Job summary

The Family Service Association of Greater Elgin Area seeks a Police Social Worker to join the Aurora CIU collaboration. This full-time role supports on-site co-response with the Aurora Police Department, linking individuals in crisis to needed mental health and social services across the community.

Responsibilities include in-person follow-ups, case management, victim advocacy, and documentation within APD records, while travel in the Aurora area is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Social Work required.
• Flexible and able to multi-task.
• Preferred experience with mental health and criminal justice involvement.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-person and phone follow ups for mental health related calls and link individuals to services.
• Co-response with Aurora Police Department officers on mental health calls.
• Coordinate with CIU Investigators and Sergeant for follow up services.
• Document care in APD records system and manage case files.
• Provide victim advocacy for sensitive events and coordinate with service providers.
• Complete appropriate documentation, including involuntary petitions, per agency policies.
