Job summary

The City of Park Ridge is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Social Worker within the Park Ridge Police Department. This position supports residents and families experiencing crisis, mental health challenges, domestic violence, and other difficult situations by providing intervention, advocacy, referrals, and short-term counseling services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or closely related field required.
• Minimum of two years social work or related experience required.
• Experience in mental health, domestic violence, or crime victim advocacy preferred.
• Licensed Social Worker (LSW), LCSW, LCPC or similar licensed status required.

Responsibilities

• Respond to incidents involving individuals in mental health crises alongside police personnel.
• Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, advocacy, and referrals.
• Assess individuals and families to determine services and support plans.
• Coordinate access to services and monitor client progress.
• Serve as a liaison between Police Department and community agencies, schools, courts, and providers.
• Maintain case documentation, reports, and records.
• Attend court appearances and provide advocacy services as needed.
• Assist with social service support during large-scale incidents.
• Participate in on-call crisis response as needed.
