Job summary

The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay is hiring an Intervention Specialist to provide crisis counseling and resource referrals via phone, chat, text, and in person. The role includes safety checks, follow-up care, and advocacy for victims of crime including sexual assault and domestic violence.

If you bring strong communication and de-escalation skills, you will support diverse community members, participate in trainings, and work with a team to deliver high‑quality services 24/7 as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in a human service-related field or one year counseling or crisis intervention experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
• Proficiency in Windows-based computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver crisis counseling and information/referrals via telephone, IM chat, text, and in person.
• Provide safety checks and follow up care for short-term advocacy and support.
• Advocate and refer primary and secondary victims of crime, including sexual assault and domestic violence.
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and provide emotional support during crisis calls.
• Develop skills in suicide intervention and lethality assessments.
• Complete required trainings and maintain high performance metrics.
• Ensure accurate call documentation and be available for after-hours assignments.
