Job summary

Broadlawns Medical Center in the United States is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to support crisis services and behavioral health clients. You will perform intakes, observation, and documentation in the electronic health record while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment.

This role emphasizes collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and adherence to regulatory standards, with a shift from 11pm to 7am.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1+ year working with individuals with chronic mental illness.
• Ability to work cooperatively with the multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to verbally and physically de-escalate a client using BMC trained programs.
• Ability to complete electronic charting and documentation.
• Ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to meet departmental work schedules and adhere to English language proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assists with client registration per program guidelines.
• Answering phones and directing calls, including crisis calls per guidelines.
• Performs Intakes, Belongings Inventory and Patient Location Assessments with documentation in EHR.
• Interacts with clients, family, staff to ensure smooth workflow.
• Assist clients with getting to Laboratory, Financial Aid, or other areas.
• Work with clients to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
• Role model appropriate social behavior and provide therapeutic atmosphere.
• Investigate and respond to client questions or concerns.
• Collaborate with supervision to meet regulatory expectations.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of services provided including med observation and storage.
• Complete incident reports as required.
• Inform supervisors of client issues.
• Ensure facility and clients are clean and safe during shifts.
• Use de-escalation and behavior management techniques as trained.
• Attend required meetings and trainings.
