Job summary

YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking compassionate Crisis Advocates to provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Work includes shelter, the 24-hour hotline, and community outreach.

The role demands strong communication, organization, and documentation skills; prior crisis intervention or human services experience is preferred. A relevant degree or experience is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with relevant experience.
• Experience in crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, or related human services.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and victim advocacy.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, and safety planning.
• Respond to the 24-hour crisis hotline.
• Accompany survivors to hospitals, courts, and law enforcement appointments.
• Assist with Protection From Abuse (PFA) petitions.
• Support residents in emergency shelter.
• Coordinate referrals and community resources.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation.
• Participate in trainings, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
