Job summary

YWCA Greater Harrisburg seeks compassionate Crisis Advocates to provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Staff work in the shelter, on the 24-hour hotline, and throughout the community to help survivors access needed resources and move forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in human services, criminal justice, or related field; or an Associate's Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in advocacy, social work, human services, or other supportive services.
• Reliable vehicle with a valid Driver's License; mileage reimbursed.
• Current FBI, Child Abuse, and State Police Clearances.
• Proficiency with computers and ability to learn case management software.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, and safety planning.
• Respond to the 24-hour crisis hotline.
• Accompany survivors to hospitals, courts, and law enforcement appointments.
• Assist with Protection From Abuse (PFA) petitions.
• Support residents in emergency shelter.
• Coordinate referrals and community resources.
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation.
• Participate in trainings, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
