Job summary

The Oregon Judicial Department in Bend, Oregon, is hiring a Criminal Judgment Clerk (Court Operations Specialist) to support judges by opening new criminal case files, scheduling hearings, and handling pleadings with accuracy in the electronic case management system.

You will review payments, track compliance, provide customer service to attorneys, litigants, and the public, and may testify in jury matters. OJD offers a bilingual skills allowance and a structured pay progression.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of administrative experience in a moderately complex setting.
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to four years of experience.
• Experience performing clerical tasks with strict deadlines.
• Experience using software to access and input information.
• Experience providing customer service to a variety of individuals.
• Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies.
• Strong writing and proofreading skills.

Responsibilities

• Open new criminal case files and schedule same-day hearings.
• Perform data entry related to pleadings, search warrants, indictments, release agreements, and judgments; ensure accuracy.
• Update case information in the electronic case management system.
• Review cases and payment schedules to determine if fines and fees are paid on time.
• Enter information about diversions and discharges; track dates for compliance.
• Provide customer service to attorneys, litigants, and the public in person, over the phone, and in writing.
• May provide grand jury testimony and testify at trials if required.
