Job summary

Office of the Attorney General in Virginia seeks an Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Appeals, to represent the Commonwealth in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Virginia. Qualifications

• Law degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the Virginia State Bar or eligible for admission.
• At least one year of experience as a licensed attorney is required; appellate/trial experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Commonwealth in criminal appeals in the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Virginia.
• Handle habeas corpus and other post-trial litigation at state and federal levels.
• Occasional overnight travel.
• Provide advice on criminal law and procedure, including legislation before the Virginia General Assembly.
