Job summary

OceanFirst Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst to analyze commercial loan requests, evaluate borrower financials, and assess collateral and risk under guidance of the credit management team.

You will prepare detailed analyses, write summaries, and support loan package preparation for approval. The role emphasizes adherence to policy and regulatory guidelines while maintaining data confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques.
• Understanding of business, finance, accounting, and economic factors affecting credit analysis.
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication, and listening skills.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed credit analysis of commercial loan requests and borrower information.
• Review historical operating performance and research economic conditions related to the borrower.
• Assess collateral quality and apply discounts to estimate collateral value.
• Analyze guarantor financial position and cash flow from personal statements and tax returns.
• Prepare initial assessment highlighting strengths, risks, and policy deviations.
• Support loan package preparation for presentation and approval with spreads and cash flows.
• Assist in annual reviews of portfolio clients with site visits and financial review.
