Job summary

The Michaels Companies, Inc. is seeking an in-store Event Coordinator in Livonia, MI to plan and run kids’ birthday parties and craft events. You will assist customers, guide activities, and help with checkout and store operations to ensure a fun, stress-free experience for guests.

You will engage with diverse guests, manage multiple events, and support product and framing-related services while maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout events.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning and coordinating events, especially children’s parties or classes.
• Retail or customer service background is preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple events simultaneously.
• Familiarity with checkout processes and store operations is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events in-store, including children’s parties and craft classes.
• Engage with guests of all ages to create a fun, creative environment.
• Demonstrate and guide participants through crafts.
• Support event add-ons like goody bags and balloons.
• Communicate events to clients and store team members.
• Handle emails, phone calls, and paperwork as needed.
• Adapt plans based on client feedback and create backup plans.
• Ensure client satisfaction and maintain store cleanliness and safety during events.
• Cross-train in framing-related sales and production tasks.
