Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. in Canton, MI is seeking an Events Coordinator to plan and coordinate in-store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, to create a fun, engaging guest experience.

You will assist customers, guide participants through projects, manage checkouts, and support store operations while maintaining safety and cleanliness and communicating with clients and team members.

Qualifications

• Must have experience working with children and children’s events.
• Must have excellent people skills and strong communication.
• Retail or customer service experience required.
• Able to manage multiple events and handle stress.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate events at the store, including children’s parties and crafts.
• Engage with clients of all ages to create a fun, creative environment.
• Demonstrate and guide participants through craft projects; face painting as needed.
• Manage add-ons (goody bags, balloons) and communicate with clients and staff.
• Handle emails, calls, and paperwork; adjust plans per client feedback.
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety; assist with stocking and SOPs.
