Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. is seeking an energetic event coordinator to plan and run in-store events, including children’s birthday parties, in a Chicago-area Michaels store. You will engage customers, guide craft activities, and manage event logistics from setup to teardown.

You will also support sales through customer assistance, BOPIS/SFS processes, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for all guests. Prior retail or service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and facilitate events within a Michaels store, including kids birthday parties and craft classes.
• Engage with guests of all ages to create a fun and creative environment.
• Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects and activities.
• Handle add-ons like goody bags and balloons to company standards.
• Assist customers with shopping, product locating, and checkout processes.
• Communicate events with clients and store team members; answer emails and make calls as needed.
• Support omni-channel processes (BOPIS, SFS) and store operations (receiving, stocking, planograms).
• Maintain store cleanliness and safety standards; assist with setup and breakdown of events.
