Job summary

Whole Foods Market in Portland, ME is seeking a dedicated Bakery Decorator to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special orders. You will apply artistic skills to produce high-quality bakery goods while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role supports store programs and the company’s core values through excellent service and teamwork. The ideal candidate has 6–12 months of relevant experience, plus completion of the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 6–12 months of retail or restaurant experience.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program or equivalent experience.
• Prior professional bakery or grocery retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries.
• Build and decorate cakes following standard procedures to meet demand.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Display products attractively and ensure freshness and rotation.
• Provide guidance to Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs per customer preferences.
• Deliver excellent customer service and handle inquiries promptly.
• Maintain clean, sanitary work environment and safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties and price signage accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
