Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a skilled Bakery Decorator to create and decorate cakes, tarts, and pastry items, including special orders. You will use artistic talent to finish specialty goods while upholding quality standards and company procedures.

You will contribute to service excellence, assist Apprentices and teammates, and ensure a clean, safe bakery environment. Flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills with piping techniques.
• Understand color theory for blending buttercream colors.
• Ability to follow recipes, directions, and procedures; strong time management.
• Experience in retail or restaurant setting (6-12 months) is preferred.
• Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program or equivalent experience.
• Strong teamwork and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items.
• Build and decorate cakes, follow standard procedures, maintain production sheets.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise products in the display case and ensure proper rotation.
• Provide guidance to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special-order cake designs based on customer preferences.
• Deliver excellent customer service and assist customers promptly.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, follow safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties with signage and pricing accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
