Job summary

Whole Foods Market is seeking a Bakery Decorator to craft and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special orders with artistic flair. You will decorate, finish, and maintain quality while providing exceptional customer service and adhering to safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 6–12 months of retail or bakery experience, apprenticeship training, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong teamwork and honesty in execution.

Qualifications

• Efficient cake and pastry decorating skills with intermediate piping techniques.
• Understand color theory for buttercream colors and palettes.
• Ability to apply icing techniques (Swiss, American, Ganache, etc.).
• Follow recipes, directions and procedures; strong time management and organization.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, fill, and finish/decorate cakes, tarts, and special-order items.
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes following standard procedures; maintain production records.
• Prioritize production lists and adjust as needed.
• Merchandise products and maintain display quality and freshness.
• Provide guidance to Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
• Create special order cake designs per customer preferences.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and handle calls and inquiries promptly.
• Maintain clean, sanitary work and shopping environments; follow safety standards.
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties; ensure accurate signage and pricing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
