Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a retail bakery team member to create outstanding customer experiences in-store. You will assist customers, respond to questions about bakery products, and help with cake decorating and wedding cake requests using proper bakery equipment.

Responsibilities include sampling, suggesting items, ensuring product freshness, labeling and stocking merchandise, and maintaining safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about; prepare bakery items, including wedding cakes, per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Recommend bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review sell by dates and take appropriate action; use all bakery equipment per guidelines.
• Decorate cakes, pastries, cupcakes, cookies and other bakery items.
• Label, stock, sign, and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store layout and locate products on request; stay current with ads.
• Maintain inventory awareness and note discrepancies in stock.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations at local, state and federal levels.
• Ensure merchandising, customer service, labor controls, safety rules are followed.
• Reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance and report items in need of repair.
• Report safety risks, theft or fraud and accidents to management.
• Perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
