Job summary

Kroger is seeking a bakery-focused associate to deliver outstanding customer service in-store. You will help maintain a safe, clean department space, assist with production goals, and support the department manager in fulfilling sales targets while upholding our safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include answering product questions, stocking, preparing orders, handling equipment, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bakery experience.
• Retail experience.
• Second language: speaking, reading and/or writing.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Must be able to meet the minimum physical demands of the position.
• Must be 18 or older.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions regarding products sold within the department.
• Maintain cleanliness of counter, cases and coolers.
• Meet the day’s production goals for baked goods.
• Plan and organize development plans, goals and timelines.
• Assist with receiving and unloading of merchandise.
• Gain knowledge of products and suggest items.
• Prepare special orders per customer requests.
• Use bakery equipment according to guidelines.
• Measure, mix ingredients per recipe.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Notify management of safety concerns.
• Follow merchandising and customer service rules, labor control, and loss prevention.
