Job summary

Ellwood National Steel in Irvine, CA seeks an experienced Crane Operator to support nightly production and material handling. The role requires operating overhead cranes and heavy equipment, ensuring accurate ingot documentation, and maintaining equipment and work areas.

Applicants should have 1–2 years of crane or heavy equipment experience, be safety-focused, and able to work in a demanding industrial environment. The company offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Accurately complete documentation.
• Perform housekeeping, stocking, ingot identification, and maintain cleanliness of pits and furnaces.
• Load/unload annealing furnace and hot boxes as required.
• Verify ingot number, size, and customer grade specifications.
• Assist with mold setup for nightly production and related tasks.
• Coordinate ingot annealing cycles to facilitate shipments.
• Assist maintenance during breakdowns and perform other duties as needed.

Job description

• Responsible for the accurate completion of documentation,
• Performs housekeeping, material stocking, and ingot identification,
• Maintains cleanliness of stripping pit, dumping pit, furnaces and ingot storage area,
• Performs stripping of molds from ingot in accordance with manufacturing instructions,
• Loads/unloads annealing furnace and hot boxes as required,
• Verifies ingot number, size, and customer grade specifications,
• Oversees and/or performs accurate mold set up for nightly production, bricking, runner bar cutting, or other tasks as required,
• Determines, performs, and coordinates ingot annealing cycles to facilitate shipments,
• Assists maintenance during breakdowns, and Performs other duties, assignments and projects as deemed necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb and bend. The team member is regularly required to use hand and fingers to handle objects and controls and reach with arms and hands, must be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in extreme weather, is frequently exposed to airborne particles and occasionally exposed to fumes. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

What You'll Need:

Education: Minimum High school graduate or equivalent G.E.D.

Experience: 1-2 years operating an overhead crane preferred, 1-2 years experience operating heavy equipment is required.
