Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Crane Operator in El Dorado, KS. The role involves operating overhead bridge cranes to secure and move suspended loads, following safety protocols and standard procedures.

The position supports a 4:00 pm - 2:30 am shift, Monday through Thursday, with training hours earlier in the day. Starting wage is $22.68/hr plus a $1.50 shift differential. Candidates must be able to read shop drawings, use a tape measure, and perform routine maintenance on equipment.

Qualifications

• The ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings.
• Ability to become Valmont trained and certified overhead crane.
• The ability to read a tape measure.
• The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues.
• The ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people.
• The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions.
• The ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment.
• The ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds.
• Maintain safety at all times and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead bridge cranes to lift, move, and place loads using remotes.
• Determine load weights and ensure they do not exceed lifting capacities.
• Inspect cables, grappling devices, and crane mechanisms for wear or malfunctions.
• Review daily work and delivery schedules to plan loads and sequences.
• Set up and operate grinding machines to finish metal parts as required.
• Ensure safety by wearing PPE and following Valmont safety policies.
