Job summary

The Michaels Companies Inc. is seeking an Event Coordinator for the CHI-SKOKIE store to plan and run kid-focused events such as birthday parties and crafts. You will deliver friendly service, guide guests through activities, and manage event add-ons while ensuring safety and cleanliness.

You will also support checkout efficiency, store operations, and omni-channel processes, contributing to a positive shopping experience for guests of all ages.

Qualifications

• Energetic and enthusiastic personality.
• Must have excellent people skills.
• Experience working with children and children’s events is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to listen well.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
• Retail or customer service experience required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate events in-store (e.g., kids birthday parties, craft classes).
• Engage customers of all ages and assist with shopping and queries.
• Demonstrate activities, assist with face painting and party add-ons.
• Communicate event details to clients and store team; handle emails and calls.
• Ensure cleanliness, safety, and adherence to SOPs during events.
• Support omni-channel processes (BOPIS/SFS) and in-store tasks.
