Job summary

WV Department of Human Services is seeking an experienced Child Protective Service Supervisor to lead a team dedicated to family preservation and child safety. This leadership role moves beyond individual casework to oversee clinical decisions, mentor staff, and ensure the highest standard of protection for every child in the unit.

The position requires a strong background in clinical social work, forensic interviewing, and trauma-informed intervention, with a proven ability to handle

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Experience includes social services, probation and enforcement, or child/adult protection.
• Licensure as a social worker must be obtained within agency guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate a team of CPS workers, providing clinical consultation on complex cases.
• Review safety plans, court summaries, and case assessments for accuracy and compliance.
• Lead unit meetings and case conferences to improve interventions and permanency outcomes.
• Monitor caseloads and performance metrics to meet statutory deadlines for investigations and home visits.
• Liaise with judiciary, law enforcement, and service providers to strengthen the local child welfare network.
